A Chance Encounter with a Stray Orange Cat

Sometimes fate works in mysterious ways. A female netizen, whose family is in business, took a detour to deliver goods to a construction site. Her car couldn't enter the underground parking lot, and unexpectedly, she saw a strange stray orange cat sitting at the garage entrance, blocking the way. Playfully, she made a pact with the cat, never imagining that the stray would actually follow through. Eventually, by a twist of fate, she took the stray cat home and adopted it.

A female netizen named "pinepcorn" recently shared on the social media platform Xiaohongshu that she had a serendipitous encounter with this stray orange cat. She tentatively fed it some snacks, and the cat refused to leave. Jokingly, she told the cat, "If you want to come home with me, get into the carrier yourself." To her surprise, the orange cat was very intelligent and immediately walked into the transport box right in front of her, leaving her astonished.

Since the original poster (OP) already had a native cat at home, she first took the orange cat to the hospital for a checkup. The examination revealed that the cat was in very poor condition: infected with feline herpesvirus, its ear was bitten through, teeth were broken, and its leg was swollen and pus-filled. Severe stomatitis made it almost impossible for the cat to eat.

The OP recalled that she might have seen this cat before when delivering goods to the construction site. Nearby residents sometimes fed it leftover greasy food, sharp fish bones, or chicken bones. This realization sent a chill down her spine, thinking that if things continued like this, the orange cat might really die. Fortunately, she had adopted it.

The veterinarian asked the OP whether she wanted to treat the cat, warning that the cost could be as high as tens of thousands of yuan. The OP confidently agreed, saying, "I originally only planned to take the cat for neutering, but since its health is so bad, then treat it. No matter how much it costs, I want to cure it."

It has now been two weeks since the orange cat was adopted. Its condition has stabilized, and it has been discharged from the hospital and brought home by its owner. Recently, the OP opened the pet monitor and saw the orange cat lying comfortably on a newly purchased scratching board, sleeping soundly. A warm feeling surged in her heart, and she felt no regret about deciding to take in another cat.

"From now on, Little Orange will live a good life. Only now do I truly understand the meaning of rescuing stray cats. Sometimes, it's not just about changing the fate of a stray animal, but also about adding a bit of stability and brightness to one's own life," she reflected.
