Located near the Xizhi Sports Center, Sambo Café, or Three Treasures Pet Café, is not only a paradise for cat enthusiasts but also a warm and story-filled coffee shop. In recent years, cat cafes have become popular relaxation spots for many cat lovers. Sambo Café offers more than just a place to unwind; it's a haven filled with heartwarming stories.
From Homemade Pet Treats to a Dream Café
The journey of Sambo Café began with its owner, Cecia, who initially started making homemade pet treats to save on expenses for her pets. She had two dogs and later added another when she started dating her boyfriend. As the cost of pet food and treats increased, Cecia began crafting her own pet snacks. What started as a hobby soon turned into a business as more people asked for her treats. Eventually, Cecia decided to open her dream café.
Sambo Café is not just a place to buy pet treats or attend workshops; it also features feline staff members. The café has four adorable cats: Miao Miao (the orange tabby mix manager), Yu Dan (the creamy Munchkin), Man Man (the blue Munchkin), and Hua Hua (the calico Munchkin). These cats work in pairs, providing a unique experience for each visitor. Miao Miao, originally a colleague's cat, was taken in by Cecia after being sent to an animal shelter due to family circumstances. Under Cecia's care, Miao Miao transformed from a withdrawn cat to a loving companion and eventually became the café's official manager.
Cuisine and Warmth
Beyond interacting with cats, Sambo Café's cuisine is also a highlight. The signature dish, "Peel Pepper Chicken Curry Rice", attracts many customers. The café also offers a variety of Korean dishes like Korean-style rice rolls, fish cake soup, and spicy stir-fried rice cakes, paired with a popular caramel crunch latte. For pet owners, there's a special pet menu featuring healthy and delicious meals such as "Full Chicken Pie Crust" and "Pet Savory Pie" with vegetables, as well as adorable treats like "Shiba Inu Macarons" made from yam and chicken, and "Nutritious Egg Tarts" filled with turtle egg, beef, and sweet potato.
Sambo Café is more than just a cat café; it's a place filled with human warmth. Cecia shares the story of a regular customer, a grandmother who visits almost daily after her daughter moved out. She orders a coffee and chats with the staff, showcasing the café's unique charm. Whether you're looking to interact with adorable cats, enjoy delicious Korean cuisine, or find a cozy space to share stories, Sambo Café meets all your needs.
