A bizarre incident occurred in Taipei when an American Pit Bull Terrier opened a car window and attacked a scooter rider. The event took place on a morning when the scooter driver, a 60-year-old man surnamed Huang, was waiting at a red light on Wanmei Street. Suddenly, the rear window of a nearby SUV opened, and a yellow Pit Bull jumped out, biting Huang's leg. The scooter tipped over as a result of the attack.
The dog's owner, surnamed Hsu, quickly intervened by getting out of the car and restraining the dog. Local police were notified and immediately reported the incident to the Animal Protection Office and the Traffic Division for further handling. Hsu explained that the dog was in the back seat and likely accidentally triggered the window switch with its paw.
The injured rider has not yet filed a complaint. The police are urging the public to take precautions when driving with pets, such as locking car windows and using leashes and muzzle guards to prevent similar incidents. Pet owners are reminded that they are liable for both criminal and civil legal responsibilities if their pets injure others.
