New Taipei City Expands Pet Adoption Opportunities

New Taipei City's Animal Protection Office is continuously establishing adoption centers across the city, allowing residents to adopt pets without having to visit animal shelters. In collaboration with the Bali Animal Shelter, 21 adoption centers have been set up, resulting in the adoption of 316 animals last year. The public animal shelters offer lifelong free medical consultations, free pet food, and vaccinations for adopted animals.

The adoption centers partnered with Bali Animal Shelter are diverse, including pet supply stores, pet cafes, pet hotels, and veterinary clinics. In Xinzhuang District, "Cat Consulate" is a cat shelter dedicated to helping stray cats find homes. Recently, it took in over 30 cats that were at risk of being abandoned. Another establishment, "Chat Chat Cat Hotel", is a cat-only hotel where the owner, Lin Zixiang, not only helps adopt cats from Bali Animal Shelter but also provides cat training services and contributes to the spatial planning of the shelter.

Dr. Huang Jinda, a veterinarian at Bali Animal Shelter, praises the adoption centers for overcoming the geographical limitations of traditional shelters, allowing more people to see and adopt pets. The New Taipei City Animal Protection Office encourages more partners to join in helping these animals find homes. Last year, the adoption centers collectively adopted 316 animals, and the office hopes for even more participation in the future.

New Taipei City has eight animal shelters, mostly located in remote areas. By setting up adoption centers in various industries, the city increases the visibility and adoption opportunities for animals. Additionally, the shelters use online media to successfully match many pets with new families. The public is invited to visit the shelters or partner adoption centers and explore the Animal Protection Office's website or join their Facebook page.
