A press conference for the 2025 Bagua Mountain Birdwatching Season activities was held on the 12th, attended by DPP Legislator Huang Hsiu-fang, Deputy Director Liao Hsi-piao of the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau, and Deputy Director Wang Yi-jing of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Division, Nantou Branch, Council of Agriculture, among others. The series of activities will officially begin on the 15th.
The gray-faced buzzard migrates north through Taiwan every March and April, with the peak period expected around the spring equinox. The Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration and other units announced that the Bagua Mountain Birdwatching Season activities will soon commence, aiming to promote bird conservation and birdwatching eco-tourism in central Taiwan.

Liao Hsi-piao noted that the Bagua Mountain range is an important migration route for the gray-faced buzzard, and the Bagua Mountain Birdwatching Season is an international-level event listed in the Tourism Bureau's biennial calendar. It combines birdwatching conservation activities with tourism promotion, making it one of the most unique tourist events in central Taiwan.
Lee Yi-hsin, Secretary-General of the Changhua County Birdwatching Society, pointed out that the gray-faced buzzard migration has begun, with about 120 birds observed so far. The peak period is expected between March 15th and 25th around the spring equinox. Citizens interested in witnessing the buzzard migration should seize this opportunity to visit the Bagua Mountain area.
Liao Hsi-piao mentioned that on March 15th, a "Hawk Over Carnival" will be held at the Red Foot Fairy venue near the Hengshan Birdwatching Platform in Nantou. The event will feature exciting performances, magic bubble shows, local farmers' markets, and DIY gray-faced buzzard plush toys. From March 15th to 30th, free guided tours will be available at the Hengshan Birdwatching Platform. Additionally, on March 22nd and 23rd, the Changhua County Government will host the "Hawk Soaring Bagua Birdwatching Activity" at WenDe Primary School in Fenyuan Township, focusing on the theme of "Friendly Retrieval" to promote ecological conservation education and birdwatching tourism.
