Tucker, an 8-year-old dog in New York, has been waiting for a home since he was surrendered to a shelter in 2018. Despite being adopted once, he was returned to the shelter and has remained there ever since. The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter took Tucker in many years ago, and after evaluation, it was determined that he would thrive best in a home without children or other pets. However, this requirement has extended his stay longer than anticipated.
Tucker spent six long years in the shelter from 2018 to 2024. After finally being adopted in 2024, there was hope for a better life. Unfortunately, he was returned to the shelter about 10 months later, leaving many surprised and saddened. The shelter staff noted that Tucker is a very gentle dog who has made significant progress since his arrival. He clearly yearns for a home but has yet to find the right family.
Today, Tucker remains at the shelter, waiting for someone to share the second half of his life with him. Despite his age, he still has plenty of energy and would do best with adults who can provide love, patience, and adventure.
