A Dutch woman vacationing in Vlissingen recently got the surprise of a lifetime when she returned to her hotel room and found a seal comfortably napping on the floor.
The woman, upon discovering the unexpected guest, immediately alerted the hotel staff. The local animal welfare organization, Stichting Dierenwelzijn Zeeland, responded to the call and found the seal to be a bit grumpy from being disturbed.
According to local media, the guest had left her door ajar while walking her dog, allowing the seal to slip inside. The woman, hesitant to disturb the sleeping marine mammal, sought assistance from the hotel staff.
Stichting Dierenwelzijn Zeeland reminds everyone that seals, despite their cute appearance, can be aggressive and may bite if provoked. They advise people to keep a safe distance if they encounter one.
According to Wikipedia, gray seals are often found on rocks and shallow coastal areas during winter. Additionally, young, stray, or recently weaned seals may also rest on beaches as spring approaches.
