Owner Entrusts Bird to German Shepherd, Returns Home to Find a "Saliva Chicken": Trust Instantly Crumbles

A video from China has gone viral, showcasing a German Shepherd's rather intense approach to protecting a brood of chicks. Entrusted by its owner to safeguard the tiny yellow chicks from potential bullying by other dogs in the household, this dedicated German Shepherd took its job very seriously.

The owner, who also keeps Corgis and Dobermans, among other breeds, left the German Shepherd in charge of the delicate task before stepping out. The loyal dog, gazing at the chicks, seemed to understand the importance of its mission.

However, the method employed by the German Shepherd has left netizens both amused and slightly concerned. The chicks, naturally curious, wandered around, prompting the German Shepherd to take action. To prevent any potential attacks from other dogs, the German Shepherd would gently (or not so gently) bite the chicks and bring them closer to itself. Furthermore, any time another dog approached, the protective canine would unleash a fierce bark, warning them to keep their distance.

While the German Shepherd’s dedication is admirable, the internet has exploded with comments on the potential consequences of such close protection. Many joked about the chicks becoming "saliva chicken" due to the constant contact with the dog's mouth. Others expressed concern that the overzealous dog might accidentally crush the fragile chicks in its fervor.

Despite the humorous undertones, the video highlights the German Shepherd's inherent loyalty and protective instincts, traits that make them ideal candidates for police work. The video serves as a reminder of the unique and often comical ways animals interpret and execute the tasks we assign them.
