Craisin, a unique hairless kitten, is currently waiting to be adopted along with his brothers and sisters. PAWS Chicago recently took in a litter of 12 kittens, and one stood out: Craisin.
A Peculiar Kitten
Unlike his siblings, Craisin is almost entirely without fur, resembling a hairless cat. Despite numerous examinations, the reason for his hairlessness remains a mystery. The report notes that Craisin's wrinkled body has only a slight down and gray sideburns, a stark contrast to his ten-plus fluffy siblings.
A Medical Enigma
PAWS Chicago reports that Craisin is the only hairless cat among the 12 kittens they received, which has surprised them. Strangely, after a thorough veterinary examination, Craisin was not found to have diseases such as mange, which would cause hair loss. His siblings are also healthy and friendly.
Possible Explanations
Some speculate that the parents may carry a recessive gene for hairlessness, which is why the phenomenon is not seen in the other cats. It is also possible that Craisin's condition is due to stress and that he may grow hair in the future.
Seeking Warmth
PAWS Chicago has observed that Craisin, like other hairless cats, is particularly sensitive to temperature and enjoys snuggling with his siblings for warmth. Whether Craisin's hairlessness is congenital or temporary remains uncertain. What is known is that he is in good health and waiting for a loving owner to take him home and provide him with lifelong warmth.
