On January 17, a surprising event unfolded at a veterinary clinic in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. A veterinarian, Dr. Xu Ruishu, was attending to patients when the front desk staff reported that a patient had arrived on its own for treatment. When Dr. Xu peeked out of the examination room, he was astonished to see a small dog wearing an Elizabethan collar walking in by itself, without any owner or accompanying family members.
This remarkable scene revealed that the dog had been attacked by other dogs outside and had sustained injuries to its ear. Despite its fear of visiting the vet, the dog seemed to understand the urgency of its situation and bravely sought help at the clinic.
According to reports from Chinese media, Dr. Xu noted that this little yellow dog had previously been brought in by its owner for check-ups and had shown typical apprehension towards the veterinary environment. However, on this occasion, while wandering outside alone, it encountered other dogs and got bitten, leading to bleeding from its ear.
In an interview, Dr. Xu expressed his admiration for the dog's intelligence and bravery in seeking assistance despite its fear of veterinary visits. He quickly attended to the dog's wounds and contacted the owner to ensure they could take their pet home safely. He also advised the owner against allowing their dog to roam freely, emphasizing that not using a leash can be very dangerous.
This incident highlights not only the cleverness of pets but also raises awareness about responsible pet ownership in urban environments like Shenzhen.
