Every day, a dog so fat it resembles a gas canister can be seen lingering at the entrance of a convenience store in Korat, Thailand. Despite its friendly demeanor and willingness to interact with people, the dog always appears sorrowful. A closer investigation reveals that this dog, named Moo Dang, once had an owner—a homeless man who has since passed away. Unaware of her owner's death, Moo Dang continues to search for him in the places he frequented, creating a heart-wrenching scene.
Reports from various media outlets describe Moo Dang as a large yellow dog dressed in red clothing, often found sitting on the store's carpet. Although she occasionally wanders to a nearby market, she always returns to the convenience store. Her charmingly plump appearance has made her a local favorite, attracting many young people who come to take photos with her, turning the spot into a popular social media check-in location.
However, beneath her adorable exterior lies a tragic story. Moo Dang's previous owner was a street dweller who had cared for her well despite his circumstances. Unfortunately, he succumbed to a serious illness at the end of 2024. Moo Dang remains oblivious to her owner's absence and continues to roam the market area in search of him.
Local vendors are aware of Moo Dang's difficult past and express their compassion for her plight. Although her former owner was homeless, he provided her with love and care. Now, residents near the market look after Moo Dang, hoping that one day she will find a new home and no longer have to wander alone.
