Local police and residents banded together to capture the wandering pig, which had piqued the curiosity of onlookers.

The Taichung City Police Department's Dajia Precinct received reports of this unusual event. The pig, which escaped from a nearby pigpen owned by a couple surnamed Hsu, was seen parading down the road. The couple had been raising over 50 pigs at their residence, with an average weight exceeding 100 pounds as they prepared for the upcoming Lunar New Year sales.
Response to the Situation
After finishing their feeding duties that afternoon, the Hsu couple inadvertently left the iron gate unlatched, allowing one particularly robust black pig to make its escape. As dusk fell, the pig wandered into traffic, prompting concerned citizens to alert the authorities.
Officer Huang Yichuan and his partner Liu Tingyu were on patrol when they were informed about the situation. They quickly mobilized to assist, following the pig in their patrol car with lights flashing to warn oncoming vehicles. Despite the chilly weather, officers joined local residents in an effort to guide the pig back home.
Resolution and Future Precautions
After approximately 30 minutes of collaborative effort, the team successfully herded the large black pig back into its pen. The Hsu couple expressed their gratitude towards the police for their swift action and pledged to enhance security measures around their pigpen to prevent future escapes.
