"Falling Sloth Injures Tourists! Taipei Zoo Confirms Response as Injuries Revealed"

Many modern zoos emphasize close animal encounters, allowing visitors to experience wildlife as if they were part of the animal's environment. The Taipei Zoo's "Tropical Rainforest Indoor Pavilion (Pangolin Dome)" has been designed as an immersive ecological display, where animals can roam freely and exhibit natural behaviors. However, a recent incident raised concerns about safety.

According to reports from media outlets such as TVBS and Liberty Times, a visitor shared a peculiar experience on the social media platform Threads. While visiting the Taipei Zoo, he witnessed a sloth fall from a tree and land directly on a visitor's head, prompting him to exclaim, "Just watching it made me feel pain."

Following the incident, zoo staff quickly attended to the injured visitor. Meanwhile, the sloth appeared unfazed, casually hanging along the railing as it left the scene. The post detailing this unusual encounter sparked significant discussion among netizens.

A user claiming to be the injured visitor's wife revealed that her husband was struck by the sloth and initially felt intense pain in his head. Fortunately, she noted that their child was unharmed and that there were no serious issues afterward; her husband felt fine upon waking up the next morning.

The Taipei Zoo later confirmed that the sloth involved was a two-toed sloth named "Ye Zi," who is over five years old. Surveillance footage indicated that Ye Zi had climbed to a thinner branch of a tree and misjudged its weight capacity, leading to the fall. Currently, Ye Zi is eating and sleeping normally, seemingly unaffected by the incident.
