Usually, hearing noises from the bathroom means someone is using it, so you instinctively leave and come back later. But if you're the only one home, who's making hissing sounds in the toilet?! John Riddle, a 58-year-old man in Hollywood, Florida, discovered his toilet was occupied. When he approached, he saw a long tail sticking out of the bowl!
According to a report in the Daily Mail, John was at home and wanted to use the restroom when he unexpectedly found a huge reptile in his toilet. John and a large green iguana stared at each other, both startled. John quickly grabbed his phone to take a picture, while the green iguana hissed angrily at the camera. John said, "I walked into the bathroom and found a Godzilla in the toilet. He didn't look too happy and even hissed and splashed water at me."
But John was brave; he found a long-handled pool skimmer and used it to scoop the green iguana out of the toilet. John lamented, "I'm never leaving a doggy door open again." He suspects the "Godzilla" entered his house through the dog door. Green iguanas are not native to Florida, and the invasive species has been causing problems for local residents for years, including damaging buildings. Green iguanas originated in Central America and the eastern Caribbean islands and have been in Florida since the 1960s, with their numbers steadily increasing.
Green iguanas are excellent swimmers and can enter sewer systems, so it's possible for one to show up in someone's toilet. If you were John, would you have the courage to scoop out the green iguana yourself?
