Balcony Wall Grows "Mysterious Mud Balls"; Couple Pokes a Hole, Looks Inside, and Freezes in Shock

When it comes to household pests like mosquitoes and ants, most people are not overly alarmed. However, encountering something unfamiliar can be daunting. A woman recently discovered a strange, immobile "worm" protruding from her balcony wall. The worm-like mud structure looked bizarre, prompting her to ask her husband to handle it. Little did they know, what they found inside would leave them frozen in fear.

The woman posted on the social media platform "Little Red Book", seeking help with the mysterious object. Soon, experienced users identified it as a mud wasp nest. Despite this, the woman remained uneasy and asked her husband to remove the mud pile the next day. He carefully poked a small hole in it, and to their surprise, they found it filled with blue larvae. Their shock intensified when a mud wasp appeared, attempting to repair the hole. The woman was too frightened to approach it and watched from a distance as the wasp flew away, startling her once again.

Eventually, the husband completely removed the nest. Some netizens reflected on the incident, noting that mud wasps are beneficial insects. Each nest typically contains only one larva, which feeds on paralyzed insects provided by its parents until it matures and flies away. They advised against disturbing such nests in the future.

According to environmental information, female mud wasps construct flask-shaped nests using saliva mixed with mud or sand. They lay eggs inside these nests and hunt for small insects, paralyzing them with venom before bringing them back to the nest. Once the nest entrance is sealed, the larvae have a fresh food supply when they hatch.
