A horrific incident occurred at a Crimean wildlife park when a female employee was mauled to death by three lions while cleaning their enclosure. According to reports from Mirror, Leokadia Perevalova, a 41-year-old employee at Taigan Safari Park on the Crimean Peninsula, forgot to lock the safety door on October 16. As a result, she was brutally attacked by the lions inside the enclosure.
Unfortunately, Leokadia was alone in the lion area at the time of the incident. By the time other staff members discovered her, she had already been torn apart by the lions. However, contrary to the initial report, the lions were not euthanized. Instead, they were allowed to remain in the park.
Leokadia had worked at the zoo for nearly 18 years and had extensive experience caring for lions, having recently been promoted to a leadership role. The park's owner, Oleg Zubkov, revealed that when they found Leokadia, she had been torn into pieces, and no assistance could be provided. Zubkov noted that the lions involved were not raised in the park but were rescued from war-torn Ukraine.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, focusing on possible negligence that led to the tragic event.
