The highly anticipated AAA game "Black Myth: Wukong" has generated considerable discussion. Following its release, the game developers have shared numerous behind-the-scenes clips showcasing the production process. In addition to the appearances of agile human motion capture actors, there are contributions from animals as well.
Typically, when it comes to motion capture for game monsters, human actors are preferred due to their controllability. However, "Black Myth: Wukong" features a unique character named "Tiger Vanguard," whose motion capture was performed by none other than cats! Not just one cat, but a small group of similarly sized felines participated in the production.
According to the behind-the-scenes video, these cats did not work overtime; they essentially worked for 15 minutes and then took breaks of 1 to 2 hours. The production team emphasized that no animals were harmed during the filming process.
However, free-spirited cats do not always follow human commands. To manage this, the production team had to dress them in motion capture suits and set up various obstacles in a simulated environment. Human companions were also involved to encourage the cats to move around.
The character "Tiger Vanguard" in "Black Myth: Wukong" is depicted as a large tiger. The production team revealed that after capturing the cats' movements, the actual data used in the game has a ratio of 1:60 compared to reality. They utilized their self-developed software called "Luwu" to simulate various movement data for animals within the game.
Finally, let’s take a look at some of the behind-the-scenes footage from the "Black Myth: Wukong" production team.
