Henney believes that the kidnapper, described as "a jerk who enjoys throwing alligators into people's yards to scare them," maliciously released Wally into the wild.

In a strange turn of events, after a trapper located Wally, he was released into a 430,000-acre swamp alongside 20 other alligators. This unexpected release complicated what could have been a straightforward resolution to the kidnapping. Although releasing animals may seem humane, Henney fears that Wally, being a domesticated emotional support pet, will struggle to survive in the wild.
