There are over 337 recognized dog breeds, not including the so-called "mixes". Regardless of the breed, every dog is a good dog, as dogs are indeed man's best friend! Recently, a Japanese netizen walking through the streets of Bangkok, Thailand, stumbled upon a dog unlike any they had ever seen before. The dog's face resembled that of a Shiba Inu, yet its body was surprisingly short-legged. Even the tiniest Shiba Inu, known as the "Mini Shiba", typically does not have legs this short!
This adorable dog, reminiscent of a cotton candy or a marshmallow, had faint yellow spots on its face that looked like unique patterns—almost resembling burnt marks on a marshmallow. Its coat color and short legs were not typical for a Shiba Inu, making it quite eye-catching with its round and slightly plump appearance.
Comparison with Other Breeds
The usual size comparison among breeds shows differences between Mini Shibas, standard Shibas, and Akitas. Common Shiba Inu colors include red, black, white, and sesame. However, the dog spotted by the netizen (@TSUYOI_OPPAI) was truly unique in both color and size, drawing attention on Japanese Twitter where many users claimed it was their first time seeing such a dog.
Speculations and Reactions
Some users speculated that this could be a mix between a Shiba Inu and a Corgi. Reactions from netizens included humorous comments such as:
- "It really looks like it has been cooked (like bread)."
- "Definitely looks like bread!"
- "It looks delicious... probably tastes like puff pastry."
- "This dog looks very comfortable to hold."
- "It feels great to touch; it's so cute!"
- "It resembles an alpaca with its short legs and neck."
- "I want to bury my face in that fluffy thing..."
- "A dog that looks like it was drawn poorly."
Discovery of the Dog's Identity
A savvy netizen managed to find the Instagram account of this dog, identified as the "Shiba Inu and Corgi mix", under the handle @meringuewhitecorgi. It turns out this is a somewhat famous dog with 44,000 followers! Although it appears to be a Shiba Inu at first glance, it is actually a 100% purebred Corgi. The Corgi has a white coat that is classified as "Cream". Upon closer inspection in some close-up photos, it's clear this adorable creature is indeed a Corgi—just on the chubby side!
