Human society is evolving with technological advancements, and our daily lives, including the lifestyles of our pets, are changing accordingly. In the past, people often said that cats would catch mice, and dogs would catch thieves! However, it seems that cats may no longer possess the skill to catch mice. As for dogs, what changes have they undergone? I'd like to share a video that illustrates this situation well.
Last week, a burglary occurred in California, USA. The homeowner had installed surveillance cameras, which captured the entire incident. Although the footage was recorded, the process was surprisingly... adorable? The incident happened on July 15th around 10:40 PM when a man broke into a house and headed straight to the garage to steal a bicycle. Despite the garage being left open and the lights on, this provided the thief with an easy target. However, just as he was about to take the bike, the homeowner's Golden Retriever appeared.
Typically, one would expect the dog to confront the thief, but the video showed something unexpected. The Golden Retriever seemed to want to play, rushing towards the thief but wagging its tail enthusiastically. The thief didn't appear panicked at all; instead, he brought the bike back, started playing with the dog, petting its head and belly. The scene suddenly became heartwarming! The dog seemed very relaxed, even lying down to let the thief pet its belly. The thief was also very affectionate with the dog, sharing genuine thoughts like how the homeowner shouldn't have left the garage open or admiring the dog's home for having so many things. He was laughing joyfully after being teased by the dog.
The video lasted about 1 minute and 20 seconds. In the end, the thief left with the bike without looking back, while the dog watched him leave. Following a police investigation, it was discovered that the stolen bicycle was an electric one valued at approximately $1,300. Despite having footage, the police have yet to catch the thief. It's unclear if there have been any new developments in the investigation as of August.
This video, although not resulting in harm to anyone or the dog, sparked mixed reactions from netizens. Some joked that if their house was burglarized, their dog would help pack the stolen goods. Others said they didn't care about anything as long as the dog was safe. Some felt that in the eyes of the Golden Retriever, there seemed to be no strangers, as it would be friendly with anyone who wanted to play. Another theory suggested that the dog might have been using a delaying tactic to give the surveillance time to capture the thief's facial features, making it a "spiritual dog"! In reality, everyone misunderstood.
In conclusion, while it's fortunate that no harm was done, it's crucial to remain vigilant about our property and safety. It's advisable to keep doors locked and protect ourselves. Apparently, having a Doberman can be more effective as a deterrent, as they are less friendly with strangers.
